Russia 2007-08 Home and Away Kits
Along with Romania, I had a hard time finding the kits for Russia. So I jumped back to the trusted Euro 2008 site and found the home and away kits. Click here to go to the Euro 2008 page for Russia and see the kits.
Russia made a stance for their position in the tournament, and I think Nike made a stance with the kits they provided. Simplicity is key, and when dealing with red, white and blue as your primary colors it is hard to mess that up. On the home kit, the Russian side will be wearing a solid white top with blue around the sleeves and collar. The blue is a nice touch as the shorts are solid blue as well. On the away kit it will be a red top with red, white and blue stripes across the middle. This kit is not my favorite by any means. I have never been a fan of the horizontal stripes in the middle of the kit. It just seems too out of place for me, however Nike does make it look decent. I’m giving these kits another 3 out of 5 stars. I like them, but they are not worthy of anything higher. We’ll see what Nike comes out with when they design the next set.

The Euro picture of the Away kit isn’t the best, but the one at football shirt culture is a good one: http://www.footballshirtculture.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=878
The thing to notice is that it isn’t just white and blue stripes over the middle of the kit, but the Russian flag. I like that kind of nationalism in a national kit, it separates Russia from being just another red-clad team (and there are many).
I just think the fact that it is the flag, and not random stripes, across the front may change your opinion a bit.
