Simple must have been the theme when the Hotspur’s management sat down with Puma to figure out the 2007-08 season’s kits. The away kit is just as simple as the home kit. Positioned on a solid field of Navy Blue, the sponsor logo again stands out because of the red and gold. This time the white of the sponsor name brings out the rest of the highlights of the kit, the Puma logo on the right chest and the traditional Tottenham logo on the left chest with 125 Years underneath.

This is an extremely nice looking kit, some might say it is plain, but I think the simpler the better. This kit has a collar that adds a nice touch, however the newer collars like this one can sometimes take away from the kit itself. By keeping it the same color, Puma has made it less noticeable. Which is the way it should be.

The Tottenham Hotspurs have been playing the beautiful game for 125 years, an amazing feat to say the least. When they take the pitch during the home matches it will be a simple white Puma kit. This kit is as simple as it can possibly get with a Premiership team and the sponsors that are involved. In a field of all white, the only color that is noticed is the red inside the logo fo the sponsor, everything is the traditional Navy Blue.

One nice touch for all the kits for the 2007-08 campaign for the Spurs is the 125 Years logo on the left chest. This tribute is something that every club in the world hopes to one day be able to do. Nice work on this simple yet classic looking kit.

During the 2007-08 Premiership Campaign, when Sunderland travels to other places, they will be wearing a simplistic white kit from Umbro. This is a change from the previous season that saw Sunderland in a light blue for away matches. This plain white kit has a few black and red markings on the shoulder and collar area, but really is nothing more than a plain white jersey.

I have always said that I like the simple kits, and it does not get much more simple than this one. Umbro took a classic looking kit, added the Sunderland Crest and made it timeless. Great work again by the folks at Umbro and Sunderland.

When Roy Keane brings his team to play in front of the home fans, they will be wearing the same design on their kits as previous years. The red and white vertical stripes have become a staple with Sunderland, and no need to stop something that is working so well. With Umbro on board as the kit manufacturer, the task was easy on the home kit…do the same thing as previous years. The only difference is Umbro has designed a few of the “diamonds” on the shoulders that are so conducive with the Umbro logo.

I like this kit, granted nothing has changed in a while. When a club takes their badge or crest and makes the kit resemble that, it shows pride in the team and their loyalty to the crest. Sunderland has done just that with the red and white vertical stripes. Everything looks in place and I give all the respect for it to Umbro and Sunderland. Great work.

The Royals will use a third kit that is a complete opposite from both the home and away kits, which is usually the case. This burgandy Puma kit is flanked with gold down the left side and gold stitching throughout. The color scheme does not match anything within the Reading badge, yet still manages to flow nicely with it.

Again Puma and Reading have created a nice, simple, kit. This kit is one that the fans and players will be happy to see on the pitch. The color scheme and design work flawlessly together, now let’s just hope that Reading can get that same flawlessness on the pitch.

Even when travelling to competitors venue for away games, Reading will have the touch of home with them. The 2007-08 away kits are the exact same top as the home kit, just a different set of colors. Utilizing the great looking black and grey combination, Reading and Puma have made another good looking kit. Not as nice as the home kit, but definitely one worth looking at, after all we have seen some terrible ones.

The only thing that really stands out at me with this top is the color combination between the sponsor logo and the Reading badge. That catches my eye on an otherwise colorless jersey. However it is simple, and I like simple, so I think Puma and Reading did a nice job on this kit as well.

When the Royals from Reading take the pitch for the 2007-08 Premiership campaign, they will do so in the same home kits they wore in the previous year. Utilizing the famous white and blue horizontal stripes, Reading and kit manufacturer Puma have made a tremendous looking kit. Everything seems to fit nicely on the top, from the Puma logo, the sponsor logo and the Reading badge, nothing seems to out of place.

One nice feature that I really liked with this kit is the blue down the right sleeve, and the white down the left sleeve. This is something that many manufacturers struggle with and can make the entire kit look off and out of place. Puma has accomplished that to the best of their ability and it flows nicely with the kit. Great work on a stellar kit.

With a subpar performance on the home kit, and a decent performance with the away kit, I was anxious to see what Canterbury and Portsmouth could design for the third kit. Personally I think the third kit was the best, by far. The simple all black kit with gold accent around the collar and sides makes for a great kit. Even the circles on the sleeves match the gold on the badge, which adds another nice touch.

This is the best kit that the rugby kit manufacturer has put out to date. I fully expect many great kits in the future, but for this season they are 1 for 3. All in all I think that Canterbury of New Zealand will have a long and prosperous life in the football arena and luckily for Portsmouth, they will reap the benefits.

With the 2007-08 away kit, I think Canterbury and Portsmouth management had a better idea. Going with a white away kit is always a good idea, however this particular kit is the better of the two. This kit provides a white base to start with then adds several blue and gold accent pieces throughout the kit itself. The blue and gold are obviously taken from the traditional badge of Portsmouth and add a great touch to this kit. Do not forget the badge on the left chest and the sponsor logo in the center, which is where it should always be.

The only issues I have with this kit is that it borderlines being too busy and the circles are back again. This time the circles were grey and not as much of an eye sore as the home kits are. I think if there were another color mixed into the kit it would have been too much, but aside from that I think it was a great looking kit.

Canterbury of New Zealand has long been known for their great kits for Rugby, however they do make some great kits for football as well. Being the kit sponsor for an English Premier League team is no easy task, you must come ready to bring the best kits out on one of the best leagues in the world. Canterbury has done just that with the 2007-08 home kit for Portsmouth. Taking the same blue that is in the Portsmouth Badge and making it the primary color for this kit, adding gold accent pieces that match the trim in the badge, providing the sponsor logo in the traditional center role and the Canterbury logo on the right chest makes this a kit worth looking at.

The only part of this particular kit that I do not like is the random light blue circles on the sleeves. They do not seem to have a purpose, they are not in the color scheme of the badge at all and are no where else to be found. Maybe it is just a design of the kit, but they could have been left off. Not a bad kit aside from that.

Newcastle United and Adidas made a hat trick with their kits for the 2007-08 EPL Campaign. Their design of the alternative Third kit is one for the history books. Taking the tradtional vertical stripes of the home kit, adding the blue from the away kit, the traditional three black stripes from Adidas on the sleeves, sponsor logo and Newcastle United Crest in the center and you have one of the best looking kits of all time.

This color scheme is great and really works well with each other. I would try to wear this kit as much as possible if I were management of Newcastle United, however I am nothing more than a blogger that writes about the kits, so if my opinion matters I would wear this kit often. Adidas and Newcastle United Management made it a solid three for three in their design of the kits. Great Job!

With the design of an Away kit for Newcastle United, Adidas took their newest jersey and added the solid field of baby blue. I have mentioned in previous posts that I am a big fan of this color scheme for any club, but it is a nice contrast from the traditional black and white of the home kit. Position the sponsor logo and the classic Newcastle United Crest in the center, add the traditional three stripes for Adidas down the sleeves and add some black markings and you have a kit that will be worn by one of the most respected clubs in England.

With this particular kit clubs have to be careful, it can appear to be very “busy”. Usually if it is only one color with the black markings, such as the Newcastle United away kit, then it looks great. Simplicity is key and I think Adidas and Newcastle United have made a simple, yet classic looking kit that is sure to be a fan favorite. It is already one of mine.

Over the years Newcastle United has been the club that many try to duplicate in terms of kits. Classic white and black vertical stripes have become a staple for their home kits, so why change tradition? Adidas has taken the traditional kit and applied it to their most recent jersey. Add long time sponsor “Northern Rock” to the center, the Newcastle United Crest and Adidas logo above that and you have the 2007-08 home kit for Newcastle United.

One nice touch on this kit is the collar. I have mentioned in previous posts that the traditional collar has faded away in the mix of technology and trends. However it looks especially nice on this kit as it is all black with a white trim, and goes nicely with the traditonal Adidas stripes down the sleeves. Great work on this kit from both manufacturer and club.

On the away kit that “Boro” will be wearing this season, Errea and Middlesbrough did a much better job with the design and appeal of the kit. Positined on a solid field of white, there is the sponsor logo and Errea logo in black, which blends nicely with the small black line down the right side of the jersey. The Middlesbrough crest is in the tradtional red on the left chest, and the most unique part of this kit is the gold around the collar, sleeves and right side of the kit.

On the away kit I think both manufacturer and club nailed it. This is a classy looking kit that is something I can see fans purchasing to support “Boro”. Great job on this kit, 1 for 2 is not a bad average.

As you should know by now, I am a big fan of the simpler kits. I do not feel there is a need to be flashy and busy when dealing with uniforms. Middlesbrough unveiled their new crest, which on a side note I think is great, and their kits for the 2007-08 campaign. Their home kit is a simple red kit made by Errea and has the sponsor logo and Middlesbrough crest in white. There is also a nice touch with the white piping from the collar down the sleeve as well as a white collar and white ends on the sleeves.

My only compaint about this kit is that it looks like it is more for a recreational league on a budget rather than a Premeirship caliber team. Not saying this kit is not functional or classic, but it does not lead itself into the quality of other kits in the world. Middlesbrough just unveiled their new crest, maybe it is time for a new kit manufacturer.
