Lyon 2006-08 Home Kit

Tagged: French Ligue 1 - Lyon

It is not a secret that I think Umbro makes some of the nicest kits on the pitch in today’s game. Lyon will take the field for the home matches with a nice kit supplied by Umbro that matches the clubs color scheme perfectly.

Utilizing a solid field of white with nothing more than a red and blue stripe down the left side of the jersey makes this kit simple yet timeless. Matching the blue and red from the badge makes everything flow smoothly together, and for good measure throw an Umbro logo on the right side to make it official. I think with the simplicity that was showin in this kit, and many other kits produced by Umbro, they are one of the top manufacturers in today’s game. I give this kit a 4 out of 5 stars.

Werder Bremen 2007-08 Third Kit

When I heard that Werder Bremen would be like most clubs and have a third alternative kit, I begged for a black kit with white and green markings. I do not know why I like an all black kit, but I think it would have looked great with a green collar and white accent markings throughout. However Kappa and Werder Bremen management went another route.

Though simple and classy looking, the third kit is brown. That’s right, it is brown. Now brown is not a flatering color by any means, but there are somethings I like about this kit. It is different and it is simple. However the things I do not like about it are the color of the collar (lime green and brown do not mix), the silver Kappa logos on the sleeves and it is solid brown. I think there were many other ways to go with a third kit, brown was not one of them. I will give it a 2 out of 5, but that is only because of the simplicity of the kit.

Werder Bremen 2007-08 Away Kit

While utilizing the same kit that Kappa provided Werder Bremen with for the home matches, the away kit is just a nice and flows just as smoothly. Keeping with the theme of the primary club colors is a standard that management and Kappa went with, and I will admit that I think it looks good.

Werder Bremen will take the pitch in away matches in a green and white top that is highlighted by orange Kappa logos on the shoulders. Again I think the logos are much too big and placed in bad positions, however overall I think this is a an extrememly nice looking kit. The ability to have half of a kit one color and the other half another is not something all clubs could do, but Werder Bremen pulled it off and made it look great. I would give this kit a 4 out of 5, but I can not get past the orange Kappa logos on the shoulders. So this is a high 3, but still nothing more than a 3 out of 5.

Werder Bremen 2007-08 Home Kit

Kappa kits have been a personal favorite with me for a while now. Mainly because their ability to take something that no one is doing and make it look great. This is the case for the 2007-08 Werder Bremen home kit.

When they take the pitch for the 2007-08 Bundesliga campaign, they will do so in a kit with a solid field of green highlighted by the white on the collar, down the sides and on the Kappa logos on the shoulders. Green and white are the primary colors for the badge of Werder Bremen, so of course it flows nicely. The only complaint that I have with Kappa kits is the need to put their logo in high profile places and make it larger than it needs to be. I guess when you are branding an item, you have to do such things. Aside from those minor issues this is a solid 4 out of 5 stars. Nice kit all the way around.

Valencia 2007-08 Away Kit

Tagged: La Liga - Valencia

As we all know, all games are not played on the home pitch. So when Valencia travels to play opposing sides, they will wear a Nike kit that is the same orange as in the unique Valencia badge.

What I like about this kit is the small markings of blue on the collar and the sleeves. This is a nice contrast in the color of the kit, and since there is no white on it aside from the Nike logo, it adds that much more. One thing that I am not too fond of is the mock collar. It looks alright, but as a player it would annoy me. Then again if I were playing for Valencia I’d be getting paid to play, so I think I’d let it slide. But as a Football Kit blogger, I do not like it. To each their own, the kit is simple and I like that. 3 out of 5 stars for Valencia’s 2007-08 La Liga Away Kit.

Valencia 2007-08 Home Kit

Nike has always made nice kits in their short life in the world of football, and Valencia called upon them to create a kit for their 2007-08 La Liga campaign. How did they do? Well I have always liked Nike kits, and I think they did a wonderful job with this one as well.

Going in the opposite direction of most home kits, Nike and Valencia went with a solid white kit with the orange as a highlight color. Something that really stands out is the orange markings down the sides and on the collar. They are uniquely placed yet seem to flow nicely. I really think that the powers that be did a great job on this kit. It’s simple and matches the color scheme of the club perfectly, what can I say, that’s what I look for. This kit gets a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

Bayern Munich 2007-08 Third Kit

When I found out that Bayern Munich and Adidas collaborated on a third kit, I was curious to see how it would turn out and if they would go with a black kit. Well I was glad to see a black kit, however I think that it is not as nice as it could have been. Bayern Munich in a black kit should be great looking, and I would be lying to you if I said I have seen this kit on a player or the pitch. However I think they missed a golden opportunity with this kit.

On a solid field of black, Adidas tried to incorporate the Bayern Munich color scheme by adding the standard three stripes in red down the sleeves and then a red and blue vertical stripe down the right side. This is the part I do not understand nor like. If they would have taken the away kit, made it a solid field of black with red stripes down the sleeves and blue markings it would easily have been a 4, possibly a 5. But this kit is nothing more than a 2.

Bayern Munich 2007-08 Away Kit

Like many of the clubs across the globe, Bayern Munich and Adidas went with a simple white kit for the away matches. I have nothing wrong with this, in fact I think the white kits often look sharp and classic on the pitch. It’s by far one of my favorite kit colors because of the simplicity.

On this kit Adida took the red and blue from the Bayern Munich badge and implemented the blue into the three stripes down the sleeves and the red with some markings down the sides. I really like the way this kit stands out and the colors of the badge are found throughout the kit. The one thing that I do not like, and this is for all of the newer Adidas kits, is the collar. It serves no purpose and to be honest look ridiculous on the players. Loose the collar and you have a 4 star kit, but with it, nothing more than a 3.

Bayern Munich 2007-08 Home Kit

Bayern Munich is one of the most fabled clubs in the world. One of the top German club teams, is it any wonder why Adidas is their kit manufacturer? When they take the home pitch for the 2007-08 Bundeslig campaign and try to bring home a fourth championship, they will do so in a tradtional kit that has not changed in years.

Adidas stuck with the traditonal red and white horizontal strips for the Bayern Munich home kit. I like the simplicity and the ability to not change, however I think it would look a little better with a touch of the blue that is in the Bayern Munich badge. If nothing more than to bring out the blue in the badge, it would make the kit look that much better. Overall a solid 3 out of 5 stars for the Bayern Munich Home Kit.

Roma 2007-08 Third Kit

Tagged: Roma - Serie A

After making two extremely nice kits for home and away matches, I was curious to see how Kappa and Roma would utilize their imagination for the alternate third kit. I was not dissapointed, this kit is the best out of the three…no question.

Using the same kit design as the home and away kits, Kappa took a solid black top and used the orange in the Roma badge as a highlight. Again keeping it extremely simple, it allows for all the other colors to flow smoothly and not look too cluttered. Out of the three kits that Roma will wear for the 2007-08 Serie A campaign, I think this has to be my favorite. I would venture as far to say this is one of my top five kits of the 2007-08 campaign…in the world. Solid 5 out of 5 stars for the Roma 2007-08 Third Kit.
