Barcelona 2007-08 Away Kit

When Barcelona takes the pitch in opposing stadiums, they will do so in a totally different kit than in previous years. Taking a different approach in the away kit, Nike and Barca management went with a light blue and a darker light blue vertical stirpes. This is a nice contrast from the home kit that is recognizable throughout the world among football fans.

A coulpe nice features on this kit is the color scheme and how nicely it blends with the famous Barcelona crest, the sponsor logo and Nike logo match the yellow of the crest perfectly, and the collar. Many kit manufacturers have gone away from the traditional collar and have brought it back in the right situation, this is one of those situations. Add a little something different to an already unique kit.

Barcelona 2007-08 Home Kit

Barcelona had one of the biggest transfers to hit the football world. Thierry Henry left his beloved Arsenal to join forces with Ronaldinho and the rest of the Barcelona stars. With this transfer, Nike had to develop a kit that could match the magnitude and be recognizable around the world. Lucky for them it is not hard with the likes of Ronaldinho and Henry wearing the kits.

Using the red and blue from the famous Barcelona Crest, Nike took the traditional look of red and blue vertical stripes for the home kit. This is nothing new, and really was a no brainer when it came to the home kit, however one touch that is extremely nice is the lettering and logo of the sponsor. It matches the yellow in the crest as well, so everything is within the realm of the color scheme of the club. When a club can utilize every color in the scheme and make it a great looking kit at the same time, I must give it 4 out of 5 stars. This is a nice looking kit.

Real Madrid 2007-08 Champions League Third Kit

When a club like Real Madrid is playing in the Champions League, fans from around the globe are curious to see what kit they will be wearing. Well this year it is one of the best, in my opinion of course. Utilizing a color scheme that has nothing to do with the traditional Real Madrid colors, Adidas and the clubs management came up with a black and lime green combination that is one of the best looking kits I have ever seen.

I know I preach on simplicity, and this kit at first glance appears to be “busy”, however it really is not. Starting with a solid field of black, adding the white Adidas stripes to the sleeves which match the sponsor logo and the lime green markings down the front is all this kit has. It really is not too much at all, and the colors work well together. I think Adidas and Real Madrid did well with this decision, Great Work!

Real Madrid 2007-08 Away Kit

When Real Madrid travels to opposing clubs, they will take the pitch in a simple kit made by Adidas. Taking the gold from the classic Real Madrid badge and using that in the Adidas logo and three stripes down the sleeves is as much flare as this kit has. What I really like about this kit is the use of navy blue and white. The kit is situated on a solid field of navy blue, yet still manages to pull just a touch of white from the badge into the collar and of course in the sponsor logo itself.

I am a fan of this kit, though I think the top itself is the wrong choice, in terms of the design of the kit itself. This particular Adidas kit is designed to have more than one color present on the front of the kit, so a jersey that did not have space that is usually used up by another color would have been a better option. Again simplicity is key, and this is a simple kit.

Real Madrid 2007-08 Home Kit

Real Madrid has long been known for its high profile players from across the globe, so Adidas had to design a kit that matched the quality of players that have played for this prestigeous club. Taking a solid field of white and not making it complicated with many designs was the best thing they could have done.

Utilizing the blue from inside the famous Real Madrid badge, Adidas used a couple lines down the sides and the famous three stripes on the sleeves. One nice touch to make this all jump out is the blue collar that feeds it all. Add the Adidas logo in the middle chest, and the sponsor logo in the center and there you have Real Madrid’s Home Kit for the 2007-08 campaign.

Wigan Athletic 2007-08 Third Kit

As with most teams in this day and age, Wigan Athletic decided to have a third kit, or alternative kit. Usually these kits hold little comparison to the home and away kits, and typically do not match the color scheme of the club. This however is not one of those times.

Starting with a solid field of navy blue, Umbro did not crowd the kit with too much aside from the blue down the sides and the white and blue around the shoulders and collar. Some clubs third kits look too busy or too extreme. Wigan Athletic’s third kit looks like another away kit, it’s simple and matches the color scheme with the navy blue. I like the third kit, maybe officials with the club should ditch their home kit and just use this during home matches. Just a thought.

Wigan Athletic 2007-08 Away Kit

For the away kit that Wigan Athletic will wear during the 2007-08 season is a stark contrast from the away kits they wore during the 2006-07 campaign. Going from a solid black kit to a solid white kit is about as different as you can get, and I like the newer away kit much more than previous versions.

Like other teams that utilize an all white kit for away matches, Umbro and Wigan Athletic kept it simple by only putting a couple of navy blue stripes down the sides and blue around the collar and sleeves. Aside from that and the typical crest and logos there is not much to this kit. Simplicity is what makes a great kit look great, and this kit is a great looking kit. Job well done on this kit.

Wigan Athletic 2007-08 Home Kit

Wigan Athletic took a page from their recent history with the design of their 2007-08 Home Kits. Utilizing the same blue and white vertical stripes from the 2005-06 campaign, Wigan and Umbro teamed up to make a nice looking kit for all home matches. This kit is a definite improvement from last years solid blue with white shoulders, but is not as original as I would have liked it.

Umbro does not have an issue with bad kits, in fact I would venture to say that their most recent kits are the best out there. This kit is no different, but it does not take a lot to make vertical stripes look good. What I do like about it is the spacing and layout of the stripes, too many can make it look horrible. Umbro did the right amount and made a nice looking kit, just would have liked to have seen something a little more original.

West Ham United 2007-08 Away Kit

Like many of the other clubs that recently switched from Reebok as their kit manufacturer, West Ham United went another direction in manufacturer and color. Completely switching from a navy blue away kit to an all white away kit is something that is worth looking at, and in my opinion is 100% better.

Simplicity is the key, and simple is what Umbro and West Ham United managed to do with this kit. With a solid field of white, little was done to make this kit have too much going on. Add the burgandy and light blue to a few diamonds on the shoulders and that is really all there is to it. Aside from the crest, Umbro logo and sponsor log (which is the same light blue as the shoulders and crest), there is not really much else to it. Which is why it is one of the best looking kits in the Premiership this season. Great work on this one Umbro and West Ham United!

West Ham United 2007-08 Home Kit

West Ham United will venture into the 2007-08 Premiership Campaign in a stylish kit made by Umbro. Using the color scheme from the traditional West Ham United Crest, Umbro and West Ham management came up with an exceptional looking kit that is sure to be a crowd pleaser over the course of the season.

With the traditional burgandy playing the role of main color and the sleeves being highlighted with the light blue of the outline of the crest makes this a kit worth looking at. Add a couple of the Umbro diamonds on the shoulders, the West Ham United Crest on the left chest, Umbro logo on the right chest and the sponsor logo in all white (which brings out the white in the colloar and shoulders nicely) and you have one of the nicest West Ham United kits in a long time.

Tottenham 125 Years Anniversary Kit

There are not many teams in sports throughout the world that can say they have played for 125 years. In 2007, the Tottenham Hotspurs celebrated that exact feat. Playing the game for 125 years warranted some form of tribute. Of course there are the books, video’s and other merchandise, but what about the players that wanted to pay tribute to the club and their amazing run? That’s where the Anniversay kit comes into play.

Released in 2007, the kit is a combination of white and light blue. White on the right, light blue on the left and all the logos that are standard on the home, away and third kits. This should have been the third kit for the 2007-08 campaign, however I do not make the decisions here. As a tribute I think it is more than appropriate, I think it is timeless. Puma and Tottenham really nailed this one, I think this jersey will be a best seller in all of the Premiership, and here’s wishing the Tottenham Hotspurs another 125 Years.

Tottenham 2007-08 Third Kit

As with most of the third kits that teams have, this kit that is the Alternative for Tottenham is nothing like the home or the away kits. In fact the third kit is nothing more than the Goal Keeper kit for the home and away matches. Puma took a solid gold top, added the logos and that was it. Though different, it was still simple.

I like the creativeness that goes into the creation of a third kit. It has to be something that is different than the home and away, and typically has very little reference to the color scheme of the club itself. This is no different than any other time. The gold comes from out of nowhere, and actually is better suited to be a Keeper kit than a third kit. I think Puma and Tottenham missed on this one.

Tottenham 2007-08 Away Kit

Simple must have been the theme when the Hotspur’s management sat down with Puma to figure out the 2007-08 season’s kits. The away kit is just as simple as the home kit. Positioned on a solid field of Navy Blue, the sponsor logo again stands out because of the red and gold. This time the white of the sponsor name brings out the rest of the highlights of the kit, the Puma logo on the right chest and the traditional Tottenham logo on the left chest with 125 Years underneath.

This is an extremely nice looking kit, some might say it is plain, but I think the simpler the better. This kit has a collar that adds a nice touch, however the newer collars like this one can sometimes take away from the kit itself. By keeping it the same color, Puma has made it less noticeable. Which is the way it should be.

Tottenham 2007-08 Home Kit

The Tottenham Hotspurs have been playing the beautiful game for 125 years, an amazing feat to say the least. When they take the pitch during the home matches it will be a simple white Puma kit. This kit is as simple as it can possibly get with a Premiership team and the sponsors that are involved. In a field of all white, the only color that is noticed is the red inside the logo fo the sponsor, everything is the traditional Navy Blue.

One nice touch for all the kits for the 2007-08 campaign for the Spurs is the 125 Years logo on the left chest. This tribute is something that every club in the world hopes to one day be able to do. Nice work on this simple yet classic looking kit.

Sunderland 2007-08 Away Kit

During the 2007-08 Premiership Campaign, when Sunderland travels to other places, they will be wearing a simplistic white kit from Umbro. This is a change from the previous season that saw Sunderland in a light blue for away matches. This plain white kit has a few black and red markings on the shoulder and collar area, but really is nothing more than a plain white jersey.

I have always said that I like the simple kits, and it does not get much more simple than this one. Umbro took a classic looking kit, added the Sunderland Crest and made it timeless. Great work again by the folks at Umbro and Sunderland.
