Roma 2007-08 Third Kit

Tagged: Roma - Serie A

After making two extremely nice kits for home and away matches, I was curious to see how Kappa and Roma would utilize their imagination for the alternate third kit. I was not dissapointed, this kit is the best out of the three…no question.

Using the same kit design as the home and away kits, Kappa took a solid black top and used the orange in the Roma badge as a highlight. Again keeping it extremely simple, it allows for all the other colors to flow smoothly and not look too cluttered. Out of the three kits that Roma will wear for the 2007-08 Serie A campaign, I think this has to be my favorite. I would venture as far to say this is one of my top five kits of the 2007-08 campaign…in the world. Solid 5 out of 5 stars for the Roma 2007-08 Third Kit.

When Totti and his fellow Roma teammates take the pitch in another stadium, they will do so in a classic looking white Kappa kit. Utilizing the same kit as they wear for their home matches, Kappa and Roma management kept the away kit simple by making it all white.

I was looking at this kit trying to find something bad to say about it, and all I could come up with are the Kappa logo’s are a bit large for my liking. Seriously that was it, so if that is all I can come up with as to why I do not like the kit, it has to be a strong 4 out of 5 stars. Kappa and Roma really kept it simple and it allows for the off colors of the sponsor logo to flow freely. They did a nice job with this one.

Kappa has always been known to push the limits with kit designs. Think back to the 2002 World Cup when Kappa outfitted Italy with tight mesh like jerseys. Look around today and that is all you see, so I would say that makes them an innovator to say the least.

Well Kappa is the official kit manufacturer of Serie A contender Roma. What I like about this kit is it is simple, yet different, and the color scheme of the badge is the color of the kit. Hard to get this wrong if you follow those simple techniques. The only thing that I have never liked with Kappa is the need to put their logo all over the kit. Now this particular one is not bad, so I will not take too much away because of it. I guess it is no different than Adidas having the three stipes down the sleeve plus their logo. I am going to give this kit a strong 4 out of 5 stars, you keep it simple and that’s all I ask for.

Juventus 2007-08 Away Kit

After making a great looking home kit for Juventus, Nike emerged with a horrible looking away kit for the 2007-08 campaign. Like Inter Milan and the jersey that looked like is should be worn by England, Juventus is wearing a kit that looks like it should be on the pitch for Sweden.

I do not know whose idea it was to add two yellow stripes to a field of all blue and call it an away kit for Juventus, but they should be fired. Granted it is simple and unique, two things I ask for with any kit, but this kit came out of the sky. I have no clue on the color scheme or story behind it. Over the years Juventus has had great kits, so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that this kit has a story behind it. For that reason I am giving it 2 out of 5 stars, truthfully I think it deserves 1 star.

There are two teams in the world that can pull off a white and black vertical stripe kit in this day and age. Newcastle United, and Juventus. Now I do not know who started it, nor do I care, however I do like the way this looks on the pitch. It demands respect, not to mention is just a great looking kit.

It is on the badge for Juventus, black and white vertical stripes, so why change from what you know? Nike utilized the traditional looking kit to outfit Juventus for the 2007-08 Serie A campaign with one small touch. They added red to the edge of the sleeves, collar and the Nike logo is red. This really makes the kit stand out from previous years. I have always liked this kit, and this year is no different. I am giving it 4 out of 5 stars because Nike took traditional and added a few touches to make it unique.

Inter Milan 2007-08 Away Kit

For the 2007-08 Serie A campaign, Inter Milan went a different route with their away kits. I would be lying if I said I knew where the inspiration came from, but it looks like a kit that should be worn by England. However I like its originality and unique features.

Utilizing a red cross on a white field, Inter Management and Nike have made a unique kit that is stunning to say the least. Nike incorporated small red markings on the edge of the sleeves to flow smoothly with the red cross that dons the entire front of the kit. In a unique position, the sponsor logo is under the Inter badge on the left chest. This is something that could only be done with a long time sponsor, such as “Pirelli”. With everything that makes this kit unique and nothing that Inter has had before, I must give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Inter Milan is one of those clubs that can be recognized from nothing more than their home kit. Traditional vertical stripes of blue and black are standard with the club and the kit. So why change something that has worked so well for so many years?

Nike used the same design as previous years but added a traditional collar, which I like. Long time sponsor “Pirelli” is in their typical place in the center of the top with the tradtional Inter badge on the left chest. Like thier competitors over at Adidas, Nike has figured out a way to make the vertical stripes flow into the sleeves. I like this kit because it is a throw back to a far gone era. I am going to give it a 3 out of 5 stars, but it is definitely on the higher end of the threes.

AC Milan 2007-08 Third Kit

When I first heard that AC Milan was going to utilize a Third/Alternate kit, I was worried as to what they would come up with. Typically clubs use a color that has nothing to do with the color scheme of the club, but I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome. Using one of the three primary colors of the badge, AC Milan went with a solid black kit as their third kit.

This kit is one of the few that I think deserve 5 stars. Why? The all black field is clean and respectable, add a few red markings on the shoulders to compliment the AC Milan badge and you have one of the nicest kits in the world. Even the all white sponsor logo matches the background in the club badge and the Adidas logo. All in all this is one of the nicest kits that any club has in the world. I think Adidas and AC Milan deserve all the credit in the world for this kit.

AC Milan 2007-08 Away Kit

Adidas and AC Milan collaborated to find a simple yet functional away kit for the 2007-08 Serie A campaign. Like many clubs throughout the world, AC Milan went with a plain white kit that looks great. Why? White is simple and clean, two things that make a look great.

So how to make it unique then? Adidas took the tradtional colors of AC Milan, Red and Black, and incorporated them into the tradtional three stripes down the sleeves. This is a nice touch and something that is usually reserved for the German National Team. But AC Milan has managed to get Adidas to have one black stripe surrouned by two red stripes that matches the color scheme to perfection. Add the sponsor logo, Adidas logo and the AC Milan Badge and there you have it. The 2007-08 AC Milan Away Kit beautifully done.

AC Milan has long been one of the clubs in the world that is recognizable by the jersey they wear onto the pitch in home matches. This year is no different as the kit is identical to previous years utilizing the red and black vertical stripes. Why change up something that has worked for years?

What I do like about Adidas kits when vertical stripes are present is the ability to make the sleeves and shoulders flow together with the stripes. Many times you will see kit manufacturers that try to incorporate the vertical stripes into the sleeves, and it looks horrible. Adidas has found a way to manage everything together and make it look tremendous. I really like this kit and think that Adidas and AC Milan have done a fantastic job in blending the past with the present.
