Manchester City 08-09 Home Kit

Manchester City’s 08/09 home kit will be launched on Saturday 19 July (in association with Official Club Sponsor, Thomas Cook, and Official Sportswear Partner, Le Coq Sportif).

With LCS onboard City’s shirts were a touch different than the rest of the bunch last season and this year it’s more of the same - while the shirt is all light-blue with a swash of white running from the collar down the left side, the shorts are a different matter with the right side blue and the rest all-white.

Eye-catching, to say the least.

Manchester City 08-09 Away Kit

Manchester City’s 08/09 away shirt launches on Monday 21 July. This year’s strips are a return to tradition, with the popular red and black stripes for the away shirt, first introduced by Malcolm Allison in 1968 and worn for many of the Club’s victorious domestic and European cup campaigns of the late 60s and early 70s.

The black and red stripes have invoked comparisons with Milan but in reality the two shirts are far, far different.

City’s third kit will be available later this summer.

Manchester City 2007-08 Third Kit

Well I guess two out of three chances is not horrible. Manchester City and Le Coq Sportiff desinged a marvelous third kit for the 2007-08 Premiership Campaign. Taking a solid white top and adding nothing more than a baby blue diagonal strip over the left shoulder that houses the Manchester City crest is just shy of brilliant. This is by far my favorite kit from Manchester City for this season, it is simple and clean.

There were several options that Manchester City and Le Coq Sportiff could have done with their third kit. Many clubs take this kit and make it something out of the ordinary or outrageous, but not this club. This kit could easily have been worn as their away kit (would have been my first choice) instead of the purple. I am sure tradition plays a role in that selection somehow. Again no one called to ask my opinion, so I voice it here for everyone to read!

Manchester City 2007-08 Away Kit

As I have mentioned before, I am a fan of Manchester City’s color scheme. The purple is a nice touch, but should never be the main color for a kit. Thus is the case with Manchester City’s away kit for the 2007-08 season. Utilizing the same style kit as the home, but purple, makes this one of the kits in the premiership that I can not stand, but to each their own I guess.

Let me clarify, I am all for teams wanting to have some flare and change things up a little bit. That’s fine with me, but I am just not a fan of the all purple jersey. The only thing that is perhaps saving this kit is the white pinstripes and the elegantly large crest of Manchester City in the middle chest. But they are not enough to really advert your attention from the all purple top. I guess not every team can have a great away kit.

Manchester City 2007-08 Home Kit

The start of the 2007-08 Premiership campaign saw a few changes for Manchester City. The most well documented was the signing of former England Manager Sven-Goran Eriksson. But one that was not very well publicized, because not many people care about it, was the termination of the kit manufacturer Reebok. Like their friends in Anfield, Manchester City started with a new kit manufacturer for the current season. And they did great work with their kits.

I have always been a fan of Manchester City’s colors, the baby blue with the white a purple are a great combination. The home kit consists of the baby blue top with small white pin stripes on everything but the sleeves and shoulders. Add the Le Coq Sportiff logo on the upper right shoulder, the Manchester City Crest in the center above the sponsors logo and you have a spectacular looking home kit.
