Fiorentina 2008/09 Kits

Lotto is a manufacturer that has always had strong Italian club support, and for the 2008/09 campaign they will supply Fiorentina with all three of their kits.

Home

The home kit is a solid purple with a yellow collar and bronze piping around the shoulders.  My only complaint is the large Lotto logos on the shoulders.  Aside from that it’s a nice kit.

Away

Utilizing the same kit for the away matches, Lotto once again inserted their large logos on the shoulders.  However with an all white top they do not look nearly as bad with the red trim.

Third

This kit is by far my favorite of the three.  Pulling the red from the badge on the left chest, Lotto and Fiorentina went with an all red top.  In this kit the large Lotto logos are surrounded with white, so it is a nice contrast.  I think they are too much, but on this kit they work well.

AS Roma 2008/09 Kits

Kappa brings their radical designs to the kits of Roma again for the 2008/09 Serie A campaign.

Home

The traditional maroon color with gold trim stays put with this kit.  It really keeps the tradition of the previous kits while having a modern flare to the design.  I like it.

The away kit is the same design as the home kit, but white.  I like this one as well.

Utilizing the same design again, Kappa created my personal favorite with all black and orange.  Maybe it’s the way the orange pops out off the black surface, I do not know for sure.  But I really like this kit.

Real Volladolid 2008/09 Kits

I am a huge fan of Puma kits, and what they have done with the 2008/09 kits for Real Volladolid is great.  For starters the color of light purple does not go well with any kit, so the unique way to incorporate it, in my opinion, is to make it classy in some way, shape or form.  Puma has done just that.

Home

The home kit is purple and white vertical stripes with no collar and limited logos.  In fact, the only logos on the kit are the sponsor, which is necessary, the badge, which is necessary, and the Puma logo on the right chest.  Not too much in my opinion, and that has made the 2008/09 Real Volladolid Home Kit a classic look.

Real Volladolid 2008/09 Home Kit

Away

The away kit is a bit trickier in my opinion to create a classic look as it is all light purple.  However Puma took their new design with the collar and added pinstripes to front of the collar to create a unique look and classic design.

Third

The third kit is by far my favorite of the three for Real Volladolid.  It takes the same design as the away kit, but all black with light purple trim.  This truly is the nicest one, and should be a fan favorite for the season.

Sporting Gijon 2008/09 Kits

Sporting Gijon will play their opponents in kits manufactured by Astore for the 2008/09 La Liga season.

Home

The home kit is just a little too “busy” for my taste.  I realize the sponsor logo on the front is part of the chaos, but it is my opinion that the kit manufacturer should adjust their kits to accommodate that.  So for me the home kit is the worst of the three, what do you guys think?

Sporting Gijon 2008/09 Home Kit

Sporting Gijon 2008/09 Home Kit

Away

The away kit is a nice solid red top that prevents the chaos from happening on the front, like the home kit has.  Though still busy, it does not have any markings, aside from the collar, that add to the mix of logos from the sponsor, club and manufacturer.  Nice, but not great.

Third

The third kit for Sporting is by far the best kit in my opinion.  With an all black top, it really contrasts the red and white from the logos.  It truly is a nice looking kit, but 1 out of 3 is not a good average.

Recreativo Huelva 2008/09 Kits

Cejudo and Recreativo teamed up for all three of their kits for the 2008/09 La Liga season.  Not too bad from a manufacturer that competes against Puma, Diadora, Adidas and other big names.

Home

The home kit is simple.  White with blue vertical stripes, blue trim on the shoulders and a blue collar.  Nothing fancy, yet not entirely too boring.  I think this is the nicest of the three by far.

Recreativo Huelva 2008/09 Home Kit

Away

The away kit left a little to be desired.  All orange with two white pinstripes just isn’t enough for me to enjoy looking at it.  Luckily for us, it is what the player who wears it can do, not just for us to look at.  But I have to have something to talk about!

Third

Recreativo’s third kit is by far one of the worst kits I have seen in a long time.  I am all for originality and unique color schemes with the third kit, all I ask is that you make it look decent.  Light blue with even lighter blue horizontal stripes make this kit a monstrosity.  But if unique is what they were going for, they achieved that.

Villareal 2008/09 Kits

Puma has long been at the fore front of kit design and modernization.  They sponsor many clubs and national teams across the globe, as well as they are the number one choice for many youth programs.  For the 2008/09 La Liga campaign, Villareal teamed up with Puma to put two great kits on the pitch.

Home

The all yellow top has nothing flashy, nothing that catches the eye (aside from the sponsor) and nothing that could make you cringe by looking at it.  It is simple and classy.  My only dislike of this kit is the color.  I know it is their color, but I think an all white kit with yellow trim would look much nicer and cleaner.  But everyone has an opinion!

Villareal 2008/09 Home Kit

Villareal 2008/09 Home Kit

Away

The away kit is a little nicer design with a collar and yellow trim on a solid top if light blue.  My only concern with this particular kit is the combination of the blue and yellow, it does not flow well, however it is Villareal’s color scheme and therefore is the way it is.

Racing Santander 2008/09 Kits

Joma has burst on to the global football scene relatively recently, and I must say I have been impressed with their unique designs of kits throughout.  Clubs have noticed as well and have been utilizing their services to manufacture their kits for the upcoming seasons.  Racing Santander is one of those clubs.

Home

I really like the color scheme of Racing Santander.  The green, black and white really jumps out regardless of the kit design or color.  The home kit is a solid white top with green and black markings around the shoulders and top of the kit.  This one is my favorite of the three they will wear this season.

Racing Santander 2008/09 Home Kit

Away

The away kit is a little too much for my taste.  Big black and green boxes make up the front of the kit that gives a sort of African flare to it.  Again I love the colors, but I think Joma and Racing Santander could have done a lot better with this one.

Racing Santander 2008/09 Away Kit

Third

The third kit is much better than the away kit, but not nearly as nice as the home kit.  Green and white horizontal stripes don the kit with solid green sleeves and black markings on the front.  This kit is nice and really stands out, could be a fan favorite this year.

Osasuna 2008/09 Kits

Diadora has a rich history in football/soccer with their design of kits.  Many clubs have utilized their services as well as national teams.  Diadora teamed up with Osasuna for this season, and the results were great.

Home

An all red top with a collar is all that is needed to give Osasuna an extremely nice home kit.  The only issue I have with the kit is the large Diadora logos on the sleeves.  I have never been a fan of oversized manufacturer logos.  Aside from that it is a great looking kit.

Osasuna 2008/09 Home Kit

Osasuna 2008/09 Home Kit

Away

I have the same issue with the away kit and the over-sized Diadora logos.  The same kit design was utilized for both home and away kits, though the away is a solid white top.  Clean and sharp, except for that over-sized logos on the sleeves.  Takes away from the kit itself in my opinion.

Numancia 2008/09 Kits

Errea and Numancia teamed up to create the kits for the 2008/09 La Liga Campaign for both home and away matches.  One they got right, one they did not.

Home

One nice thing about the kits from Errea is that simplicity tends to run the show in the design process.  For the home kit it is a simplistic and clean all red top.  Nothing more, nothing less.  The unique part of this kit design is the collar, it almost looks as it was cut to create space in the front.  Nice modern touch.

Numancia 2008/09 Home Kit

Away

The simplicity bug did not get picked up for the away kit from Errea I hate to say.  This kit is entirely too busy for my taste, you can be the judge for yourself.  An all white top with what appears to me to be part of the Numancia badge in a grey background on the front.  Along with simplicity, I like originality, and I can understand the concepts behind such a design.  But this one is not a good one.  Bad job in my opinion on this one.

Mallorca 2008/09 Kits

I am not sure who the manufacturer of the Mallorca kits are, looks like “Real” to me.  However I think they made some nice kits for Mallorca to hit the pitch for the 2008/09 La Liga season.

Home

There are few teams out there that have three outstanding looking kits, and Mallorca is one of them.  The home kit is a solid red top with red markings on the arms and sides.  This is an extremely clean looking kit and sure to be a favorite among fans.

Mallorca 2008/09 Home Kit

Mallorca 2008/09 Home Kit

Away

The kit that Mallorca will wear outside of their home pitch is just as nice, if not better in my opinion.  I love an all white top, and just a touch of red markings really bring out the Mallorca Badge and color scheme.  This kit is my favorite of the three because of its clean sharp look on and off the pitch.

Mallorca 2008/09 Away Kit

Mallorca 2008/09 Away Kit

Third

The third kit is a different style design all together, yet still has the solid color top.  This time an all black top with red markings makes a statement of clean and sharp appearance.  The unique part of this top is the mock collar that drops down into a V-neck with a patch of red at the bottom.  Classic look with a modern flare to it.

Malaga 2008/09 Kits

Umbro has long been known as a kit manufacturer with some spectacular looking kits.  However recently their designs have been a little less than stellar in my opinion.  The kits for Malaga reflect that.

Home

This is by far the nicer of the two kits.  The blue and white stripes are a nice look for any squad, and this is no exception.  My only complaint with this kit is the gold Umbro logo on the right chest.  Granted it is the manufacturers logo, and it has to be there, but why gold?  My guess is it has something to do with the Malaga Badge and color scheme.

Malaga 2008/09 Home Kit

Away

Now the away kit is the one that I think is absolutely horrible.  It’s all in the color scheme.  Light purple with green trim is horrible.  I can not think of another word to describe it.  I am sure that it is all because of the colors in the badge, however there is no law stating that you have to make that the primary color of a kit!  Again…it’s horrible.  I’m done with that now.

Almeria 2008/09 Kits

For the 2008/09 La Liga Campaign, Almeria has teamed up with Uda to create their kits.  I have to say they are not the best kits I have seen, but they are not all that bad.

Home

The home kit has red sleeves and two large red stripes on the outside of one large white stripe on the front of the top.  Adding a white collar with red trim and red and gold stripes in the collar area is a nice classy touch.  Good work on the home kit.

Almeria 2008/09 Home Kit

Away

The away kit resembles the design of the home kit with the exception of the color scheme and lack of stripes.  The dark blue top is only trimmed with red and gold which would make it an instant classic for me, however there is the kit manufacturer logo (I believe) on the left side of the top.  It is extremely large and out of place, thus making it more of an eye sore than an attractive kit.

Almeria 2008/09 Away Kit

Third

When reviewing a clubs Third kit, I like to see some originality in the color scheme.  Almeria did not go all out on the colors, however they did utilize the orange color in their badge and outlined it with blue markings.  This is my favorite of the three kits for Almeria, and I personally think it will be a fan favorite.

Athletic Club Bilbao 2008/09 Kits

One of the luxuries about making your own kits is not having to rely on another company to follow your mental design of what the team should look like on the pitch.  The down side, in my opinion, is that the kits are not as nice looking as some of the others.  But maybe that is the key to having origninality.

Home

As many of the European clubs have done, Athletic has utilized stripes on their home kit.  Red and white stripes don the top with an oversized collar, a nice throw back to the old days.  One thing that I really like about this kit is how the stripes match the collar.  Often times the stripes will not align properly on the collar and/or sleeves, this time Athletic hit it perfectly for a nice looking kit.

Athletic Club Bilbao Home Kit 2008/09

Athletic Club Bilbao Home Kit 2008/09

Away

The away kit is much cleaner, but not as nice in my opinion.  I love the thought of an all blue kit, and I am alright with the red and white pinstripes across the front.  My issue lies in the badge and its location.  The front of the kit looks too busy for my taste, maybe if the badge was centered between the stripes my opinion might differ; however it is nice aside from that small flaw.

Athletic Club Bilbao Away Kit 2008/09

Third

While most clubs utilize a white kit as their home kit, Athletic has donned it as their Third.  All white, with green trim and red markings give it a great look.  However there is a large grey area in the center that is the same design as their badge.  To me it takes away from the top, but you can be the judge on that one.

Sevilla FC 2008/09 Kits

Management at Sevilla Futbol Club and Joma have joined forces to make up the home, away and third kits for the La Liga Campaign in 2008/09.  All three kits are relatively the same design.

Home

Simple and clean can make any kit look spectacular.  Joma nailed it this time around with an all white top with a gold collar and red stripes down the shoulders and sides.  Compliment that with an all white pair of shorts and black socks make this kit extremely clean and beautiful.

Sevilla FC Home 2008/09

Away

When the Sevillistas travel outside their home town, they will hit the pitch in another Joma creation.  An all red kit with red socks and gold trim give Sevilla FC another clean kit to hit the pitch with.

Sevilla FC Away 2008/09

Sevilla FC Away 2008/09

Third

An all black kit with white socks and gold trim gives the club another opportunity to sell merchandise and look great on the pitch.  This one is my favorite of the three.  The clean all black look really makes this particular kit stand out in a crowd.  Simple and elegant, Joma hit another home run with this one.
